Wind farms in Moorabool Shire

MEG has supported the development of renewable energy in our shire, and there are three windfarms planned in the shire that are likely to be built in the next few years. We support their development as an important contribution to reducing our state's enormous use of coal for energy.

The google map below illustrates where existing and planned wind farms are in the state (link here if the map doesn't display). You can click on the icon for each wind farm to get more information about it.

The three planned wind farms in our shire: Lal Lal (near Lal Lal and Yendon), Moorabool (south of Ballan), and Yaloak South (near Mt Wallace). Of course, the community-owned Hepburn wind farm is just outside our shire near Daylesford, and we were early supporters of it.

We have made a submission to a planning panel assessing an amendment to the permit for the Lal Lal wind farm. You can read the submission here to see more detail of what we think.

There's lots of other good websites with more information about wind energy. We'd recommend you check out the Australian Wind Alliance, Friends of the Earth's Yes2Renewables campaign, and South Australian wind energy buff David Clarke's encyclopaedic Wind in the Bush page.
